All Vulnerable
Picture:
Crawling back into
The Womb of God
The safest, coziest
place to be
Can I live here?
Can I stay here?
Or is this simply
a rest stop
before going on
with the life
He's given me?
Enveloped:
My rocking chair
on my porch
overlooking the land
the rif you've
planted in me.
This is the safest, coziest
place you've given me,
to sip my coffee
as I ponder your words
and
your delight in me-
what is it actually like
to be fully enveloped by
You.
As I rocked, sang over,
cuddled, read to,
looked at the unfettered stars
with the babies
You delighted in loaning
to us.
I enveloped them
momentarily,
for their comfort
and
my delight.
Protecting, comforting, loving
as You do for me-
Oh Lord my God
My Father and My Mother
my aunties and my children,
all who love me dear.
Envelope me.
And then:
You are Almighty
and
yet
You are
All-Vulnerable.
You are Love
and Love
is
vulnerable.
It's pain full and risky
in this world where
we're broken.
Because we are too scared
to believe
we can be loved
fully, wholly, holy
delightfully
as we are: broken
being re-made
and yet now we are
beautiful
precious,
valuable,
delightful.
Therefore I come
now
Unapologetically Broken
